Petit Chablis 2017 Olivier Savary 12.5%
25 years old vines on the top of a clay limestone hill.
Like my father, I am always trying to discover a Petit Chablis which is as good as anyone else’s full Chablis.
Well here it is! My father and I used to buy this wine from Olivier Savary when we worked together at El Vino. This just shows that in the hands of a great winemaker, the lesser appellations can shine.
A clean fresh nose, showing a touch of biscuit, lemon and mineral tones. Lovely round, rich, fruity mouth-feel but impeccably dry. Lemon citrus fruit character with a sizzling finish. This is a dynamic wine and terrific value for this quality of Chablis. It really does punch above its weight.
