Cotes du Rhone Villages 2015 Plan de Dieu Domaine Longue Toque 13.5%
50% Grenache 50% Syrah
Situated on a flat terrace “plate of God” in the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail, the Longue Toque Domaine is a small prestigious 2 hectare vineyard and in a rather special place. 2015 was an ideal vintage due to perfect weather conditions, warm sunshine coupled with the cooling of the steady southerly mistral breeze.
Another hidden treasure unearthed from the Wine Explorer’s relentless search for the exquisite at a seriously good price. Like the famous Chateauneuf du Pape, this is another finely crafted powerful Rhone village red wine, with similar characteristics, but at a much better price than its better-known neighbour.
Juicy, sweet, ripe black fruit, both plump and plummy. This is intense concentrated and unctuous with a nose of black cherry and spice. Well balanced and generous, with fresh blueberry and blackberry fruit on the palate, smooth, supple, silky, fine tannins on the long finish.
“Carries the hallmarks of many Chateauneuf du Pape” Clive Barlow MW
