Chateau Tour St Joseph 2014 Cru Bourgeois Haut Bordeaux 13%
50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc.
This is right at the top of the Haut Medoc on the left bank at the entrance to the Gironde estuary, close to the Atlantic Ocean.
Matured for 12 months in oak barrels, one third renewed each year.
Pleasant, subtle, complex nose, with jammy, oaky notes. Warm and elegant on the palate, very much in the classic Médoc style. Lovely concentration, rich and ripe without being heavy. Plenty of juicy blackberry fruit, gutsy and mouth-filling, finely tuned with nuances of oak, smoke and spice. Delicious.
Ready to drink now, but will keep for a few years yet.
