Chateau Grand Escalion 2017 Costieres de Nimes 14.5%
72% Syrah 23% Grenache 5% Carignan
The Chateau Grand Escalion is a prestigious estate built in 1884. The vineyards are located in the commune of Generac, south of the Roman city of Nimes south west of Avignon.
The yield was particularly low this year at 35 hectolitres per hectare contributing to a lovely concentration and depth of character. 25% of the blend was matured for 10 months in French oak barrels. Aromas of ripe red plums, wild strawberries and sweet spices, with a smooth silky generous body, lighter tannins, and a long lingering finish full of the warmth of the southern Rhone.
