Testimonials
Graham Mitchell is to wine what Michael Palin is to travel – a sort of Indiana Jones with a corkscrew! Graham has an easy going style where wit, serious comment on wine and charming anecdotes are easily mingled. However, for all the charm the audience is left in no doubt as to his passion and expertise when it comes to the wines. With Graham you learn about wine in a matter-of-fact, direct and accessible way. He was excellent.
Graham Mitchell dispenses in equal measure the wit and wisdom of fine wine.
Graham’s knowledge of the wine industry is superb. All of the wines that he has suggested I try have been delicious. What’s more they come at sensible prices!
The Wine Explorer has a real talent for discovering wonderful wines which are close in geography and style to the well-known brand names, but at a fraction of the cost. He also really does know how to present these wines and the stories behind them in a sparkling and witty way.
The Wine Explorer’s selection of wine is always interesting and the great joy is that it is not what I would typically choose myself. I have therefore been exposed to new and exciting wines I would not otherwise have sampled and I can honestly say there has never been a dud selection yet.
Tempus Alba opened up tonight – wrapped in tissue and the lovely tapered bottle – both of which visual elements suggested a treat in store, and by golly so good second just had to be opened! Our first purchase from The Wine Explorer – as Bogart said at the end of Casablanca – and I paraphrase … this could be the start of a wonderful friendship! Only 10 bottles left… Many thanks!
I have been a client of Graham’s for years. I ask his advice about what to drink with which food which is perfect when entertaining – and takes away any worries.
Just a brief endorsement to say that I have known Graham for some years, and have been enjoying his expertise, and his wine, for almost the same amount of time. He has obviously laboured well in wine, and I can recommend his wine list for providing some excellent drinking at vary reasonable rates.
The Wedgetail Cabernet Merlot and Tempus Alba Tempranillo are delicious as indeed are the huge majority of the wines I have bought from you over these last few years. I am also grateful for the excellence of your special offer. The bottles are resting after their journey and will be consumed with great pleasure over the next few months.
The Wine Explorer went the extra mile for me. The wine was delivered swiftly, and my client received personalised tasting notes together with a message from me.
As you know I like to let you know when you have found a gem. Chris and I just enjoyed a bottle of your Cuvee Clemence with grilled salmon and fried chile prawns. It worked really well, and I think this wine is as good as a classified growth from Peasac Leognan such a Chateau Brown which I know well. Keep up the good work!
Graham has a detailed knowledge of wine in general, and of his wine in particular which he communicates with passion, and, unfortunately, with jokes. Still, no one is perfect. He stocks a wide range of wine, may be with an emphasis on big, powerful reds from the New World. Nevertheless, I still recall an excellent case of Petit Chablis from a few years back. For wines of excellent quality, you need look no further.
Graham is very knowledgeable on and passionate about wine and the different styles he chooses to sell. Dealing with him is delightful – he is relaxed but efficient. His wine is always good quality and unlike many suppliers he happily mixes cases. Definitely well worth engaging with.
The insight, creativity and knowledge of the wines that Graham had researched within his portfolio, allows for a wonderful experience. Coupled with his humour and a brilliant service, one is always tempted for more.
I always enjoy engaging with Graham, his list of wines shows off his experience, personality and knowledge. He sets out to make the nation’s wine-drinking so much more interesting … and he achieves this with aplomb!
I must thank you not only for the quality of the wines but particularly for the quality of the delivery people that you employ. The cases arrived within three days at no cost and the friendly young lady who delivered them insisted on carrying them into the house although she was close to half my size (and one-third my age I guess). Service beyond compare.
My trip to Burgundy with Graham was very enjoyable and taught me a great deal. I still take his advice, though. It’s worth knowing the inside track on where the best and most affordable wines are to be found.
